Title in gilt lettering on the spine. A very fine copy, light foxing throughout. On the Italian title-page a small paper strip with the name of the publisher 'Julius Dase Editore'.

The first edition of the first traslation of the Commedia into Hebrew, limited to the Inferno, by the Triestine intellectual Saul Formiggini (1807-1873). "Formiggini and the majority of Italian Jews wished to stress the closeness between Jews and Italians, though Dante's common cult, because they sought to integrate in the Italian population and its nascent new Italy” (M.
