Woodcut medallion portrait of Dante on fol. A2v, three full-page woodcuts at the beginning of each canto. Bound in antique vellum, smooth spine. Edges red. A good copy, some leaves trimmed. Repairs to the outer blank margin of fol. NN3, fol. NN4 backed. A small loss to the lower blank margin of fol. Z7, without any loss. A few spots and stains. Copious marginalia in an eighteenth-century hand, maniculae and reading marks.



A fine Venetian edition, a substantial reprint of the Commedia published in 1551 by the Lyonese Rouillé. This edition is the only book known to contain the name of the printer Giovanni Antonio Morando.
