Three volumes, mm. 262 x 222. [8], xliii, 428; [6], 434; [6], 444 pages. Page numbering in red. Text in German and Italian, within art-déco border. In all, 60 illustrations in color, mounted on cardboards, after watercolours by Franz von Bayros, each plates protected by tissue paper. Title-pages in Italian and German, printed in pale blue and black for the Inferno, green and black for the Purgatorio, cremisi and black for the Paradiso. Each cantos of the Commedia numbered in red. Original bindings in red morocco, richly gilt-tooled. Spine with four raised bands, underlined by gilt fillets, title in gilt lettering. Pastedowns and flyleaves in decorated paper. Edges gilt.

Commemorative limited edition (the present copy is no. 655 of 1.110 copies) and edited by Karl Toth. The text of the Commedia is in German, with Italian text en face. The fine edition, printed in gothic type, is dedicated to the prince Philipp von Hessen, and signed by the painter and illustrator Franz von Bayros (1866-1924), responsible for the illustrations decorating the volumes.
