6 volumes in three; 16° (155 x 93mm). 86, 159, [1]; 148, 108; 127, [1], 132 pages. Uniform bound in contemporary quarter-cloth, boards covered with marbled paper (with a few abrasions). Smooth spine, title and volume numbering on paper label. A good copy, uncut. Some foxing and brownings, heavier in the third volume.

The second and enlarged edition of the Memorie written by the famous writer, poet and Mozart' librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte (1749-1838). The first edition of his autobiography had apperared in 1826-27. Expelled from Venice in 1779 owing to his political views Da Ponte definitely moved to New York in 1805, becoming the ambassador for the cult of Dante in America. The last part of the sixth volume contains his Italian version of the short poem The Prophecy of Dante by George Byron (1788-1824), originally printed in 1821 and immediately translated into Italian and published by Da Ponte.
