Deluxe edition of the first Commedia containing the Latin commentary attributed at the time to Stefano Talice, and edited on the basis of a late fourteenth-century manuscript discovered in 1884 in the library of the Italian King Umberto I Savoia. The editors of this elegant volume – dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele of Savoia – are the Royal librarian Vincenzo Promis and Carlo Negroni (1819-1896), member of the 'Commissione dei testi di Lingua', and great Dante collector. Negroni played an important role in the foundation, on 3 July 1888, of the Società Dantesca Italiana.
