Spine with five small raised bands, title in gilt lettering. Marbled pastedowns and flyleaves. Top edge gilt. A very fine copy, light foxing and spotting elsewhere.

The first Divina Commedia accompanied by the important commentary by the Swiss theologian per Giovanni Andrea Scartazzini (1837-1901), who in 1869 had published the volume Dante Alighieri. Seine Zeit. Sein Leben. Seine Werke. The edition appeared in the editorial series "Biblioteca degli autori italiani".
